Job Introduction

This is an exciting time to join GamCare as we’re recruiting a Regional Communications Officer to play a supportive role in elevating GamCare’s external communications across the East Midlands. The role will raise awareness of the support people can receive through GamCare and ensuring that the needs of people experiencing gambling-related harm are at the heart of our work.

The Regional Communications Officer will play an important role in raising the profile of the National Gambling Support Network across the East Midlands and be a point of contact for the Network’s funder, GambleAware. The postholder will work closely with our digital and external affairs teams to create targeted communications plans, alongside our frontline support and outreach colleagues in the region, to raise awareness of GamCare’s services.

The postholder will also draft and write content for a number of channels including press releases, media briefings, marketing materials, web content, blogs, briefings, scripts/comments for stakeholders, and stories for GamCare’s lived experience work in the East Midlands area.

Main Responsibilities

  • Create and deliver targeted communications plans, for a regional audience, that help raise awareness of GamCare and our local support services.
  • With support of a manager, lead on the creation of blogs, press releases, website content and other thought leadership materials based on local insights from the East Midlands.
  • With support of GamCare’s digital team, lead on the creation and dissemination of marketing materials to local organisations, ensuring they are consistent with GamCare’s brand guidelines and tone of voice.
  • Be a day-to-day contact for the National Gambling Support Network’s funder, GambleAware, and provide updates to other partners in the Network as necessary. 
  • Prepare marketing materials for events/conferences/forums in the region that help build impactful local partnerships.
  • Work with our lived experience team to bring new stories into our communications work - researching stories, providing quotes and managing photography requirements – ensuring that they feel supported in the process.

The Ideal Candidate

As the successful candidate you’ll bring your experience of writing and creating audience focussed, engaging content across a range of platforms.

You’ll have experience working within a press office function, experience of supporting towards the creation of social media content and understand how social media can support an organisation like GamCare. You will also bring excellent stakeholder management capabilities and have prior experience of helping co-ordinate in-person events.
